Thursday Film is always trying to highlight new topics that have not been explored in the drama form before or, at least, examine them from a new perspective. We try and keep our subjects as contemporary as possible in order to extricate the maximum potential for social impact.
Our first project was the highly acclaimed ‘Pictures’ dealing with the subject of Fabricated or Induced Illness. This project perfectly encapsulates Thursday Film’s mission statement. Having created a tense and emotional drama to a high production value, we then worked to exhibit the film as much as possible to gain as much exposure to the subject matter as possible.
Subsequently, the film has been screened in London’s West End, has had a national television screening, has secured international distribution and has been featured on BBC 1’s ‘Panorama’.
Following from this, the Thursday Film Initiative has been formed. This is an influential group of professionals who will take a national lead in setting advice and policy related to the subject matter of the film. This will be supported by further dramas, documentaries, interviews and case studies on a forthcoming dedicated website. Consequently, we want to make films that are more than just films!
Our projects can take many forms: short drama, web-based drama, drama-documentary, long form drama for television, feature length drama for cinema and DVD/ Blu-Ray release.
We are always open to working with other institutions (preferably in the social sector or third sector) and, while we encourage collaboration, we would ask for individuals or companies not to send us unsolicited story/subject ideas.
